A shipping zone is used to calculate shipping costs. For any two zip codes in the country there is an associated zone number. Zone numbers range from 2 to 7. A high zone number means the two zip codes are far apart and shipping costs will be high. A low zone number means the two zip codes are close and the shipping costs will be low. This is true whether you're shipping by US Mail, UPS, Federal Express, or by Freight.
